Our team
Hisham Ibrahim
Hisham has over a decade of experience across financial and investment services. Prior to founding Amsara, he worked for Baring Private Equity Asia (BPEA), one of the largest private equity firms in Asia (now part of EQT), where he sourced, diligenced, and executed buyout and minority growth deals across Southeast Asia and beyond. His time at BPEA included executing the sale of global manufacturer Interplex for US$1.6 billion to Blackstone.
Before BPEA, Hisham was a Senior Portfolio Manager at Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia), where he helped establish one of the world’s first equities desks within a central bank. He also helped to build up the Bank’s investment-grade credit portfolio in USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, and AUD, and also led the Bank’s early efforts to invest its equity allocations according to Socially Responsible Investing (SRI) principles.
Hisham holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management and a BSBA (Accounting & Finance) from Georgetown University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a US Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Sayf Ismail
Sayf brings with him a wealth of knowledge and expertise from across the financial services and technology sectors. He started his career in commercial banking, working as a Special Officer to the Group CEO of RHB Bank, one of the largest banking groups in Southeast Asia.
He then transitioned into the technology industry, working in both software development and project management for various tech companies and startups in Malaysia. This included time as Chief Operating Officer of software development agency Suria Labs, where Sayf oversaw a team of over 20 developers managing global web and mobile client engagements. He also has experience as an independent developer and project manager, and his most recent work at a a venture builder includes developing a full-stack platform for subcontractor materials procurement; constructing an investment management platform for a US-based DeFi project; and building out a money-market fund services platform for a fintech startup.
Sayf graduated with dual degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Commerce (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, and also holds an MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology.
